Youth and Family Ministries

When you attend church, your desire is for your kids to learn. Here at MCC, we are working hard to make “church” a place where kids can come to learn and grow in a fun and relevant environment. So, put aside any memories that you might have of your church experience as a kid, and get ready to join us on a whole new adventure!

MCC offers everything a kid could want at church. From infants through high school, your kids can enjoy music, art, games, discussion groups, and creative biblical teaching on a weekly basis.

Your kids will:

Be greeted by friendly faces
Make great friends
Interact with caring teachers and leaders
Enjoy a learning and singing time that includes drama, music, video, puppets, games, and more
Learn about Jesus
Be encouraged and equipped to serve others

Below are descriptions of the ministries for each age group:

Nursery

The Nursery is a special place that has been set aside for the youngest children (0 -1 year olds). Each week during the adult worship services, a team of trained volunteers provide quality care for children in this age group.

Early Childhood

Children ages 2 – 5 years old get to experience a program designed especially for them! Each week is packed full of objects for the kids to touch, wild and wiggly activities to get them moving, crafts that they will love getting into, and real life situations they can relate to. Our goal for these kids is to give them a “First Look” at the God who loves them, made them, and wants to be their forever friend. These kids are encouraged to openly communicate with God in their own words while developing their ability to know and worship Him. These groups meet weekly during both adult worship services.

SonQuest

SonQuest is the children's ministry that serves kids who are in grades K-5. Each week we “do whatever it takes” to create a learning experience that captivates each child's attention, challenges his or her thinking and inspires life-change as they take their next steps in Christ. Our goal is for SonQuest to become “the best hour of every kid’s week!” SonQuest meets every Sunday during both adult worship services.

ConFusion

ConFusion is a ministry designed for Junior High Students (Grades 6-9). It is a great place to learn how to walk more closely with God, to begin and grow a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ, and have fun with friends! Students who are in this age range meet on Sunday nights at 5:00pm. Additional outings and special parties are also scheduled throughout the year!

Fusion

Fusion is a place for high school students (Grades 9-12) to gather together to connect with God, experience community, and bring the hope of Christ to their peers. This group of students is also involved with several mission projects and a summer workcamp. They meet at the church on Sunday nights around 6:00pm.

Special Programming

Vacation Bible School
Our 2008 Vacation Bible School is scheduled for Aug 4th – Aug 8th, from 6:00-8:45pm. The program is designed for kids ages 3 years old thru 5th grade. Click here to see pictures from our 2007 VBS experience! - Click Here

Buddy Basketball
Buddy Basketball is a non-competitive league for boys and girls in grades 2-8! Emphasis is put on fair play, cooperation and sportsmanship. Each child is afforded equal playing time and is encouraged to increase his or her skills while having fun! Cost is $20.00 for returning players and $30.00 for new players (or returning players who need a jersey). Registration is going on Oct 15th through December 1st. Team practices begin in mid – December. Weekly games are played during January and February. The Parent Trap Play Group
Come when you can, leave when you must. This informal play group has been designed to provide parents with the opportunity to enjoy some "grown up" conversation while their pre-school aged children play! We will be meeting in the Toddler Room at Mason Community Church on Thursdays from 10:00-11:30am. For more information – please contact the church office at (517) 676-5322.

BreakOut Mid-Week Small Groups
All kids grades 2-8 are invited to participate in BreakOut - MCC’s mid-week Bible study program! There are two meeting days/times to choose from! (Mondays 6:30-8:00pm or Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30pm) Contact the church office for more information or to register your child.

Mission Trip Opportunity for Kids!
We are currently planning a mission trip (for kids in grades 3-8) to Costa Rica over spring break (April 6th-12th, 2008)! This is going to be a joint effort between the Children’s Ministry Team and the Missions Team at MCC. Parents will not only be invited, but encouraged to participate in this with their kids! Winter Weekend Retreats
Mark Your Calendars Now!!
Winter Weekend Retreat 2008 (for kids in Grades 3-5) is scheduled for February 15th-17th! We will be traveling to Camp Lael in Lapeer, Michigan. This is an event that your child will not want to miss out on! Click Here for more information on the Youth Camp page.

Grappel – Small Group for Junior High Students
Designed with students (Grades 6-9) in mind, it meets on Sundays in the Youth Room (off from the gym) during the 11:00am Worship Service. Bring a Bible and a friend! Be prepared to “grapple” over and explore some tough topics!
