This past February we successfully sent two groups to Winter Camp. Activities for both weekends included: Speakers and singers with incredible age-appropriate relevant messages + worship music, a fireside sharing session (with 1.5 hours devoted to prayer), fun-filled crowd mixer games, sledding, tubing, a talent show, bible jeopardy competitions, cabin devotions, a few cabin pranks, and team tournaments.
On the 1st Weekend, Feb 10-12th, (3-5th Graders) we had 15 Campers and 6 Leaders attend. The 2nd Weekend, Feb 24-26th, (6-8th and 9-12th Graders) we ended up with 14 Senior High Campers, 15 Junior High Campers, and 8 Leaders going!
“The thing about taking kids to camp is that somehow....when the messages are presented there...I don't know if it's the environment....the amount of prayer that goes into it....the relational bonding that occurs...or what ...but the kids (and leaders alike) are always touched in jaw dropping, eye popping ways. We had kids (a couple boys in particular) that I have never felt like I was able to "reach" in SonQuest....actually give their lives to Christ for the 1st time that weekend. And that's just plain "too cool"!"
