Gone to the Birds!! Pt Pelee Bird Trip

God's creativity is on display every spring in the flowers, bugs, and                 birds. One of the most spectacular demonstrations is the bird migration                 at Pt. Pelee, Ontario. Every May, thousands of colorful little birds                          make their way from south to north, and Pt. Pelee is one of the                 intersections and rest stops for tired feathered critters. Some of us have

decided to take a trip to Pt. Pelee to watch some birds in that special place on May 13. Watch for details, and if walking, sitting, starting at the trees, listening to birds, and enjoying the fellowship of other nature lovers suits you, then come and join us!

There will be flyers distributed in the next few weeks, but mark your calendars now! This is a trip for all ages, but kids under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. We'll each provide our own picnic lunch and the weather will be God's responsibility.

A normal May day will allow sightings of more than 100 different                        species of birds concentrated in one park. It is amazing to see Scarlet                        Tanagers, Orchard Orioles, Baltimore Orioles, Indigo Buntings,                        Blackburnian WarbIers, Thrushes, Gnatchers, and who knows what else                        IN THE SAME TREE! It isn't always that way, but more than 20 species have been observed in one tree at the same time. You can walk miles or spend more time riding the tram and sitting if you like. You can be on your own or remain with a 'guide' on this trip. Watch for details!!!!

Learn the Birds Night at MCC

Tuesday, April 18th at MCC, we will have a                            preparation night for Pt. Pelee. On May 13th you                        will be overwhelmed with the number of little                        birds, and it helps to know what birds to look for and to understand the things to look for in identifying birds. We'll do some learning and discussion and preparing for the big day! Bring your binoculars and bird books so you can learn to use those tools. They are not required, and we'll have some 'loaners' to use, but if you already have them it will help you. SIGN UP BY THE KITCHEN!
